Vectors
With the help of vectors, any DNA segments, even those foreign to a given species, can be introduced into microorganisms, cell lines and higher organisms. They are an important tool for genetic engineers. An overview of the vectors already evaluated by the ZKBS can be found in the vectorlist. The evaluation is carried out on the basis of the criteria of the ‘ZKBS position statement on the suitability of vectors as part of biological safety measures according to § 8 para. 2 GenTSV’.
The vector list is intended as a source of information for applicants and competent authorities. The ZKBS possess sufficient information for vectors listed in this database. The submission of detailed information on these vectors, e. g. completed forms, is therefore unnecessary for applications on biosafety classification. It is sufficient for the ZKBS if these vectors are named in the project description.
